What is model-based systems engineering (MBSE)?

MBSE is a set of design practices and artifacts which allow for more efficient design processes. MBSE is best put to use when the system being built is a system of systems. Examples include cars, aircraft, smart city, etc. In the example of a car, multiple systems such as breaking, electronics, etc. must be coordinated.
